Kwangjeon finally made his way to na-nu-ja and Fotomax’s shop this morning, to assess the extent of the damage caused by looters and vandalists. It was absolutely heartbreaking. The only item to remain ironically was the padlock to our front door, which welcomed so many loyal clients since we moved here in 2012. KJ took out his key and opened it, put it in his pocket as a reminder of what we had.

In this video, he makes his way from our reception and office, past the resin room, the quality checking station. Then past the burnt-out faithful Fuji Frontier responsible for printing thousands of lay-flat pages for our stunning Classic Albums. From there we pass Fotomax’s design area, the flatbed printer used for our covers, the coating machines, our stacked drying racks, heat stamp machine for our unique embossed covers. We can still see the rolls of fabrics, leatherette, hides of leather, and carcasses of our pressers, rollers, taping, and glue machines in the ashes.

We are speechless, after a meeting with the landlords we are informed that after the initial looting and a fire on the top floor, a second fire was deliberately started downstairs – the fire breaks were working, but the vandals had plenty of time because the fire department spread thin all over the city, were unable to respond to this call out.

We are not sure where to from here, the flames have to die down and the ash settle – then we will decide what to do. In the meantime many friends and clients have asked if they can help, we humbly ask that to pay salaries, meet monthly costs, pivot to offering just online services, we are appealing for assistance. Any small amount will help us try to rebuild something new.
